Wat Sri Chum, @Lampang | Lampang

Wat Sri Chum, @Lampang | Lampang
Built in 1890 by a Burmese tycoon named Uyo who accompanied the British to work in forestry in Thailand. When he became wealthy, he wanted to make merit by building Wat Sri Chum in Suan Dok Subdistrict.
Wat Sri Chum is considered the largest Burmese temple in Thailand out of 31 temples. It was built in 1890 by a Burmese tycoon named Uyo who accompanied the British to work in forestry in Thailand. Since the Burmese believe that when they become wealthy, they must make merit by building a temple, Uyo built Wat Sri Chum.
It is decorated in Lanna and Burmese art. It has a pointed wooden roof carved in beautiful patterns. Wat Sri Chum was registered as an ancient monument in 1981. However, a fire broke out in the early morning of January 16, 1992. Only the carved wooden patterns of openwork flora remain at the entrance archway to the temple. Currently, the temple has been renovated.
