Phang Nga tourist attractions, Moken village, a village in the middle of the sea | Phang Nga
This Moken village is home to the Moken people, who number around 400 people in Thailand and around 2,000-3,000 people in Myanmar. Most of them are semi-nomadic and travel by sea frequently. About 20-30 years ago, several Moken families settled in permanent villages in the Surin Islands.
The Moken village is located in the Surin Islands National Park. It is said that the Moken people migrated here before it was declared a national park. All children are born able to swim. There is a school and a health center on the island, so you don't have to travel far. The villagers on this island live in a traditional way, living in wooden houses, using wooden boats to catch seafood and making handmade products.
