Wat Chomphuwek is a Mon temple over 350 years old | Famous temple, Nonthaburi
Wat Chomphu Wek, built in the Ayutthaya period, combines Thai, Mon, Chinese, Burmese and Western art styles. The temple's symbol is the Phra Mu Tao or Mon-style pagoda. It was built in 2225 and renovated in 2460 to be taller than before, surrounded by pagodas on all four corners.
In addition, inside the temple, there are ancient mural paintings painted with powdered colors mixed with glue in the Ayutthaya style by craftsmen from the Nonthaburi school.
This art combines Thai, Mon, Chinese, Burmese and Western styles. We can see this from the ancient mural paintings that depict the stories of the Ten Lives of the Buddha.
The ordination hall at the back used to be in the Maha-ut style, located behind the pagoda, in the same style as the pagoda in the city of Hongsawadi. There is a pediment decorated with stucco in the form of a lotus flower. The center of the flower is a blue and white porcelain and Benjarong. The door and window arches are stucco in the form of plants.
