Places to worship at Wat Yannawa (Watyannawa in Bangkok)
Wat Yannawa is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River on Charoen Krung Road. It is an ancient temple that has been around since the Ayutthaya period. It used to be called Wat Khok Khwai. During the Thonburi period, it was elevated to a royal temple. The highlight of this temple is the Yan Nawa junk. During the Thonburi period, it was renamed "Wat Khok Krabue". Later, during the reign of King Rama I, a new chapel was built. During the reign of King Rama III, renovations were made and a junk pagoda was built instead of the usual pagodas in order to create a junk-like style that was about to disappear.
A masterpiece of art during the Rattanakosin period, including the pediment by royal craftsmen during the reign of King Rama I, which was decorated with the pattern of the gods in prayer and decorated with the pattern of mythical animals. Inside the chapel, there are 4 principal Buddha images, which are Buddha images in the Mara-Vijaya posture. There are different sizes. Next is the Tripitaka Hall, a 3-storey building with symbols and shapes of a Thai-style building decorated with 3 castle spires. It is used to collect Tripitaka cabinets, important Buddhist scriptures, Dharma books, and the royal monument of King Nangklao. It is located in front of the ship-shaped pagoda for tourists and the general public to pay homage.
