Wat Umong Suan Phuttharam
Wat Umong (Suan Phuttharam) is an ancient temple located in the west of Chiang Mai city, at the foot of Doi Suthep, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, which is in the south.
Phra Chao Mangrai, the King of the Lanna Kingdom (reigned 1805–1854), built this temple. Wat Umong, which is an important ancient monument, has been in Chiang Mai for more than 700 years.
Therefore, there are many passageways inside, including old mural paintings inside the tunnel.
The surrounding area is beautiful with various types of trees, giving a refreshing and shady atmosphere.
It is divided into several sections: a replica of the Ashoka pillar, a stone inscription, a staircase leading up to the pagoda, a Naga head, a Bodhisattva statue, an outdoor museum, a Dharma puzzle theater, a Dhammakhot library, a Chalermprakiat Museum, and the Suan Phuttharam office.
